At the end of July 2015 MEC, in collaboration with World Education and Save the Children Thailand, supported CSO partner organisations to consult with Ministry of Education (MoE) officials on the draft five-year national education sector plan (NESP).
During a pre-consultation meeting, partners were able to identify key issues to raise during the consultation. At least 17 local and international organisations were represented at the consultation.
Key policy issues related to inclusion of vulnerable children were raised – including language of instruction for ethnic minority children, transition between schools for refugee and migrant students, recognition of learning for refugee students and teachers and access to quality inclusive education for disabled and out-of-school children. For many of the participants it was the first time for them to meet face-to-face with MoE officials in Myanmar.
