Funding

The Myanmar Education Consortium (MEC) has a dedicated project team operating through a pooled fund using a shared-cost methodology. Donor contributions are allocated proportionally each month based on cash flow, ensuring coordinated and efficient use of resources to maximise impact and value for money, with over 75% of direct funding to local partners.

Single-stream donations can also be accommodated, and donors may request tailored interventions and reporting frameworks alongside MEC’s standard structure. Funding donors are voting members at MEC’s Steering Committee, shaping strategic direction, overseeing performance, sharing risk, and benefiting from joint visibility through co-branding across communications and deliverables. New funding mobilised or incentivised by GPE Multiplier Funds as co-financers may also qualify for match funding at 1:4 for the public sector or 1:1 for private donors.

MEC applies a “children-first” and “partner-driven” approach, maintaining flexibility to rapidly channel life-saving humanitarian aid and technical support to where it is needed most to sustain and strengthen localised education services.
