Mentoring in the Time of Covid-19

A Mon ethnic teacher is leading the classroom learning activity at Naing Hlon Mon National School which is operated by The Mon National Education Committee (MNEC).

Mentoring can provide teachers with continuous professional development support, contributing to increased teacher motivation and improved classroom practices. In Mon state, the Mon National Education Committee (MNEC) has been working toward the development of a teacher mentoring mechanism to continue to provide support to teachers in Mon National Schools, and ultimately to improve learning outcomes across the 133 MNEC schools.

Although Covid-19 restrictions prevented face-to-face training, 9 lead mentors who will lead the teacher mentorship program received training in May via MEC on Zoom, and continued to design the mentor skills programme that will be piloted through the upcoming academic year.
